Today, beard transplantation has become a procedure that
is almost as popular as a hair transplant. As the beard became more essential
to men (and women alike), interest in the beard transplant increased and the
procedure is now regarded as the most effective way to eliminate beard
problems. The procedure is simply the process of transplanting hair from the
scalp or other areas, such as under the chin, into the empty, missing or patchy
beard regions. This can be done using the FUE or FUT technique.

How Does it Work?
Surgeons will mostly likely use the FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) technique with local anesthesia, just as they do when performing a hair transplant. The surgeon will harvest hair follicles from the donor area and then implant them into a patchy beard area. If you don’t have sufficient hair in your donor area, the surgeon can also take follicles from other areas such as your chest.
For your online consultation, we will kindly ask you to send your photos as shown in the Photography Guide down below, so we can evaluate your case.
What Does a Beard
Transplant Surgery Involve?
Each and every beard transplant the procedure is customized according to every patient’s needs, preferences, and the clinic’s practices. To help you better understand, here is the beard transplant step-by-step guide:
1. Preparation
First things first, an online consultation (between you and a Beard Transplant specialist) will be scheduled –this is done in order to make sure that you’re a suitable candidate for the beard transplant surgery. You will be asked to send some pictures of your face and head (from the front, left, and right sides of the face, under the chin, and back of the head). After a Hair Transplant specialists reviews your pictures, you will be told the approximate number of grafts that you need. During the online consultations, expect the following questions:
2. Planning your trip and choosing the right clinic
When you decide to have a beard transplant, our first
step will be to present to you several detailed options of clinics and doctors.
After you have chosen your preferred clinic and doctor, we will then set up an
operation date and arrange your trip. All the dates are set according to your
preferences!
We recommend that you arrive in Turkey a day before the
surgery, so that you can have enough time to rest.
3. Final consultation with your
surgeon
When you arrive at the clinic, you will have a
face-to-face consultation with your beard transplant surgeon. Part of the
discussions will be about your expectations and goals. After this, the surgeon
will make an illustration of what to expect by drawing marks on your new beard
line.
4. Medical Examinations
Before the surgery commences, your surgeon will examine
your overall health state by making different tests such as physical and blood
tests. When the tests results are known, your final surgery preparation will
begin.
5. Preparation for surgery
As part of your final surgery preparations, your surgeon
will give you local anesthesia. This is done so that you don’t feel any sort of
pain or discomfort during the procedure. If your surgeon decides to use the FUE
technique, the donor area will be shaved down. Suppose you have Trypanophobia
(fear of needles), you will have to let us know during the first consultation
so that we get you a doctor who can make anesthesia without using needles.
6. FUE beard transplant surgery
Once the anesthesia kicks in, the surgery will commence.
Your surgeon will extract hair follicles one-by-one using microblade and micro
punches. All extracted hair follicles will be stored in a container that has a
special solution that keeps the grafts alive.
Depending on the amount of hair follicles to be
transplanted, it usually takes between 3 and 8 hours to complete the surgery.
7. Post-surgery check-up
A day after the surgery, you will meet with your surgeon for a post-op review, and it is during this session that the surgeon will give you some guidelines to follow during the recovery period.
