How To Prepare For Neck Liposuction Abroad?

Patients should be in good health before undergoing a neck liposuction procedure. If the patient suffers from an active infection in the neck region, it’s better to wait for its treatment to be finished first before having neck liposuction. Patients are also required to be at a stable weight, within 20% of their ideal or normal body weight.

How is The Procedure Performed?

The liposuction surgeon needs to know about any medications including anti-depressants the patient may have been taking. Blood thinners such as aspirin, omega 3 capsules, anti-inflammatory medicines, and herbal teas are prohibited at least 2 weeks before the neck liposuction procedure.

Smoking is also not allowed during this period, as it can have a serious negative effect on the process of surgery and also healing.

The neck liposuction procedure is done under general anesthesia. Sometimes it can be performed under local anesthesia, as well. Once the anesthesia kicks in, surgeons insert a small liposuction cannula through 1 or 2 tiny incisions, concealed beneath the chin or behind the ears for removing excess fat on the neck and sculpting the chin and neck.

There are several techniques that can be used to improve the appearance of the neck and contour of this region, including:

  • Laser-assisted liposuction
  • Power-assisted liposuction
  • Ultrasound-assisted liposuction
  • Micro neck liposuction

Once the desired result is achieved, the incisions are closed with dissolving stitches, and the area is wrapped in bandages. Finally, the patient can begin the neck liposuction recovery period which takes around 1-2 weeks.

Neck Liposuction Recovery

Since the neck liposuction procedure is minimally invasive, patients can usually return to work in less than a week. A special type of compression garment needs to be worn for a few days after the neck liposuction procedure.

Patients can experience some degree of pain and discomfort, but prescribed painkillers can easily handle it. Smoking and excessive alcohol consumption are prohibited for at least 2 weeks after the procedure.

Neck Liposuction Complications

Although neck liposuction is not a dangerous operation, it has still some risks and complications such as:

  • Allergic reaction to anesthesia

  • Excess skin tissue in the neck area
  • Damage to surrounding tissues

  • Temporary numbness
  • Nausea
  • Delayed healing
